Introducing your Sporting Futures Athlete Education Advisors:

Maree Bowden

"Sporting futures is an excellent opportunity for all those involved."

I am looking forward to helping athlete's work towards not only achieving their sporting goals but also helping them develop skills in other areas of their life. My background is in primary teaching having completed a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning at Christchurch College of Education. I have been an elite athlete for over 10 years and am currently a member of the Silver Ferns Netball team.

Through my experiences in the elite sporting environment I have learned a lot of about what is required to compete at a high level and also the balance needed to perform consistently throughout this time. Sporting futures is the beginning of your journey in reaching for your dreams and I can't wait to help you out.

Phillipa Finch

"I've been playing netball since I was 10 years old and I still love playing the sport. I also previously played competitive Hockey and Tennis but when I started to train and play Netball more at elite levels, I had to stop and focus purely on Netball, so that I could achieve my dream of playing for the Silver Ferns."

"I have been living in and playing for Otago all of my life, so playing for Canterbury in 2008 was a big change for me, but I really enjoyed the season and can't wait to play for Canterbury in 2009."

"Moving to Canterbury has provide me with an ideal opportunity to assist talented young athletes progress along a similar goal pathway to my very own.  I'm really excited to be involved with Sporting Futures."
