Our Coaching Staff play a extremely vital role in the Sporting Futures environment. Each Sporting Futures Coach aims to provide you with the skills, knowledge and work ethic to achieve your potential and ultimately succeed in your chosen sport.

All Sporting Futures Coaches have years of experience, impressive knowledge, great enthusiasm and are experts within their specific sports.

Scott Hansen

Scott has been involved in Rugby for many years and is well known and respected within the Rugby community in the Canterbury area and throughout New Zealand. Scott has a wealth of experience on an off the Rugby field, having played for the Canterbury Crusaders and represented Canterbury NPC teams and now as an IRB Accredited Rugby Coach.

Introducing your Sporting Futures Football Coaches:
 

Gareth Turnbull

Gareth is the current Football Development Manager for the Coastal Spirit Football Club.

Over the past 7 years, Gareth has completed the Bachelor of Sport Coaching Degree from Christchurch College of Education and also a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Physical Education from Catawba College (North Carolina, USA). Throughout his University education in the US, Gareth also benefited from a Football Scholarship enabling him to compete at the highest Collegiate level. The combination of these two qualifications and experiences highlights Gareth’s ability in both playing and coaching Football.

Gareth’s involvement with Sporting Futures will be to assist in the management, planning and development of all Football components and then in conjunction with Korouch Monsef deliver various sessions to the Sporting Futures Scholars.

Korouch Monsef

Over the past eight years, Korouch has been very fortunate to build a career in the sports industry and in particular Football Coaching, which is Korouch’s true passion.

Korouch considers his Coaching experience at a number of established schools and sports academies to be a clear indication of his determination and ability as a Football Coach and Sports Educator. Korouch’s extensive practical experience and qualifications have provided him with a sound base to further his Coaching career and he hopes to be able to continually find new and challenging environments to reach personal and professional goals.

Korouch’s career highlights include:

  • Completion of KNVB Coaching Licenses 1, 2, and 3 with 1 year internship at professional football club, Vitesse Arnhem, in the Netherlands.
  • Named Director of Football for Mainland Football Federation, 2006-07.
  • Named Technical Director of Football Canterbury United, 2008.
  • Establishment of Canterbury United Academy and Coach of unbeaten National Youth League team, 2006-08.
  • Canterbury Coach of the Year 2005 (2nd place in MPL, English Cup winner, quarter final of Chatham Cup).
  • Coach of highest placed amateur team in Dutch professional youth league, 2005.
  • Three seasons of professional football with Dutch 1st division club Wageningen FC, 1990-93
  • Youth Apprentice at Liverpool FC / Tranmere, Aug-Dec 1989.
  •  Selected for NZ U20 squad in 1991 world cup qualifying tournament (Fiji)
  • Selected for NZ U16 squad in 1986 world cup qualifying tournament (Taiwan)

Alan Stroud

Alan has been involved with football for many years. Alan represented New Zealand over a period of 10 years and is now involved with his local Canterbury community and is able to give back to young up and coming players. Sporting Futures is excited to have Alan involved with our program to share his wide range of knowledge, skills and experience.

Pat Barwick

Pat brings extensive National and International experience to Hockey Coaching with Sporting Futures.  Pat has coached a multitude of hockey teams, at various levels, including the New Zealand Women's Hockey Team at the Barcelona Olympics !!!!! 

Pat also represented New Zealand as a player for ten years, including an amazing 9 years as New Zealand Captain !!!!!

Pats' vast knowledge and immense experience provides Sporting Futures Hockey Scholarship holders a unique opportunity to learn their from one of the very best Hockey Coaching minds in New Zealand.

Craig Reynolds

  • Currently the College Manager at Community College - North Canterbury, also tutors in Sports Management, Sports Coaching and Sports Psychology
  • Played in all New Zealand Hockey age groups from 10 years of age
  • New Zealand Hockey International Representative from 1996 - 2000.
  • Senior Provincial Representative for Canterbury, Northland, and Manawatu from 1988 to 2007
  • Coached 2008 Canterbury Under 21 Men's Hockey team to national championship winners
  • Various coaching and technical advisor roles within Canterbury club and representative teams
