Introducing your Sporting Futures Mental Skills provider:

John Quinn

John has been working with elite athletes and teams for several years after completing his Masters In Counselling with a focus on Sport Psychology. He is currently employed full time as a counsellor at St Andrews College where he is part of the team that manages the High Performance program for the Scholarship students and other students, identified as elite athletes. John also runs a private practice outside the College working with individuals and teams to assist with mental skills and team culture.

He has worked with many individuals covering a wide range of sports and abilities, from club players to athletes who compete on the world stage at World Champs, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Some of the sports that he has worked with are:

  • Cricket
  • Rugby
  • Netball
  • Cycling
  • Athletics
  • Tennis
  • Equestrian
  • Volleyball
  • Rowing

He has also worked with several teams and organisations, including:

  • New Zealand Cricket
  • Canterbury Cricket
  • Canterbury Tennis
  • Canterbury Netball

John has recently been appointed Lead Mental Skills provider for the Skope Tactix, competing in the ANZ Championships - Netballs' elite Trans Tasman Competition.
