Objective:

 

To Develop and assist talented and motivated athletes within our local community achieve their personal sporting goals at local, provincial and national representative levels.

To provide a pathway for scholarship athletes to actively be involved within their sporting community and viewed as positive role models for young sports people to aspire toward.

Create a healthy learning environment to assist young athletes develop the necessary knowledge and understand of key components of the game to perform within their chosen sport of football.


Sporting Futures Football Program Focus:

 

Deliver a football specific coaching and physical conditioning program which incorporates educational, vocational and life balance guidance to assist athletes achieve personal sports performances and targets.  

Football is a growing sport in New Zealand in both male and female teams. Sporting Futures are proud to have 3 female athletes involved in Football in 2010 who are challenging the males in all aspects.

Sport Specific


Game, tactical and skill specific training

Your sporting potential will be developed by our experienced high performance staff. Their aim will be to maximise your skill development and ultimately your overall sporting performance giving athletes the best possible opportunity to reach their specific goals. (Top Club/Provincial Reps/National Team representation)

 


Specialist Coaching Sessions

A specialised football training program and specific football calendar will guide athlete development. Sporting Futures staff will look to enhance individual skill and conditioning profiles for athletes throughout the course of the sporting futures year.


Strength & Conditioning

Your Strength and Conditioning coach will provide you with an individualised sports specific training program. This structured and personally tailored program is designed to maximise you physical potential and will be monitored and updated on a regular basis by our staff.


Education


Nutrition

A qualified sports nutritionist will advise athletes on nutritional guidelines. Advice about drug and alcohol use and its potential effects and consequences will also be part of the education curriculum.


Mental skills and goal setting

A sport psychologist will present some great ways in which athletes can set personal goals, deal with stress and complex situations and be able to sustain peak performances.


Athlete Monitoring

A combination of our staff and key coaches in the community will be available to provide valuable advice, assist in work or educational options and ensure that athletes are making informed decisions about their future.

 
Financial Planning workshops

A number of easy ideas will be outlined to support athletes manage their finances.


Time management workshops

These workshops will provide the skills and enable athletes to stay organised and achieve a health balance between their sport, work, school/study and family commitments.


New Zealand
Level 1 Coaching certificate

This introductory course will provide athletes with New Zealand’s first recognised coaching certificate.  The purpose of the coaching course is to further develop player’s knowledge of the game and encourage athletes to participate in coaching within their local clubs and community.


First Aid

A course will be offered with basic first aid skills and demonstrations.


Massage Therapy/Self strapping workshops

A qualified physiotherapist will introduce you to some easy skills so athletes can manage basic strapping before matches and training sessions. A massage therapist will also provide an introduction to some basic techniques for self massage for relaxation, recovery, rehabilitation.
